New Here?GiveOur Mission
Know Christ. Grow in Christ. Sow Christ
That means we gather to worship and hear God’s Word, grow together through prayer, learning, and community, and share the love of Jesus through service, welcome, and care for our neighbors.
Our faith is not meant to stay inside the walls of the church. We believe God calls us to be a blessing in Kearney and beyond — through worship, outreach, community meals, campus ministry, intergenerational relationships, and everyday acts of love.
Worship With Us
We gather for worship every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Family of Christ Lutheran Church.
Our Sunday morning worship service includes sign language interpretation and is livestreamed on Facebook so people can join us both in person and online. Past services are also available on YouTube.
For young children, our sanctuary includes a Prayground — a special space with soft toys, coloring books, and quiet activities. We believe church is for all people, especially children, and we want families to know they are welcome exactly as they are.
Family of Christ also shares in a Sunday evening worship opportunity at 6:30 p.m. at Campus Lutheran near the University of Nebraska at Kearney. This service is primarily planned and led by UNK students, reflecting our shared ministry with the campus community.

A Shared Ministry With Campus Lutheran
Family of Christ is connected in ministry with Campus Lutheran at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Together, we are building relationships across generations and creating opportunities for worship, learning, leadership, and service.
This shared ministry reflects our heart for the wider Kearney community, including students, families, longtime residents, and anyone looking for a faith community where they can be known and welcomed.
Our Pastor
Family of Christ is served by Pastor Steven Neal, who also serves Campus Lutheran at UNK. Pastor Steven brings a passion for ministry, community-building, spiritual growth, and outward service.
His leadership is rooted in faith, compassion, welcome, and a desire to help people walk together in their journey with Christ. Pastor Steven believes the church is called to be a place of warmth, love, and grace — a community where God’s love takes root in us and grows outward into the world.
A Place for Families, Students, and the Whole Community
Family of Christ is more than a place to attend worship. It is a church family.
Here, children are welcomed in worship. Students are encouraged to lead and serve. Adults are invited to grow deeper in faith. Neighbors are fed, prayed for, and cared for. And everyone is invited to participate in God’s work of love and renewal.
From Sunday worship and livestream services to community suppers, seasonal gatherings, Holy Week worship, campus ministry, and everyday acts of care, Family of Christ seeks to be a visible sign of Christ’s love in Kearney.
