Quatrefoil

Quatrefoil
The word quatrefoil comes from the Latin for “four leaves.” A quatrefoil in art or architecture is the outline of four partially overlapping circles of the same diameter. In Christian tradition, it represents the writers of the four gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke and John — which overlap one another partially but not entirely, and are equally important to our understanding of Jesus.
